On June 6–8, 2019, LEGINT Bureau’s team took part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) events.

The Forum is one of the advanced international platforms arranged in the Russian Federation to boost the development of the domestic market, external relations and international cooperation. More than 19 thousand people from 145 countries, including the heads of 6 countries and the UN Secretary-General, took part in SPIEF. More than 650 contracts not constituting commercial secret have been signed for a total price exceeding RUB 3.1 trillion.

The forum hosted bilateral and multilateral consultations of state leaders and the UN leadership focusing on issues being essential to the global community. Attendees comprehensively shared their views on future prospects for resolving regional conflicts in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Ukraine, reducing tensions around Iran and continuing cooperation in implementing humanitarian projects.

The core part of SPIEF was traditionally devoted to a plenary session of the forum that apart from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin was attended by Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The plenary session focused on the need to reform the existing model of the global economy experiencing the adverse effects of crisis processes and increase the level of trust and transparent mutually beneficial cooperation to fuel the further development and prosperity of the international community. Negotiations between and joint statements voiced by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping as well as the participation of a large delegation from China in SPIEF events have reaffirmed the systemic focus on developing mutually beneficial partnerships and strategic nature of cooperation between Moscow and Beijing.

As a permanent actor of SPIEF, LEGINT Bureau has been participating in all of its iconic events. Traditionally, the forum hosted meetings devoted to moving forward the Bureau-supported large-scale projects in the Middle East and Africa and discussions about new prospects for cooperation with Russian and foreign companies. On SPIEF’s margins, the Bureau presented to major Russian businesses looking to participate in infrastructure initiatives abroad projects aimed to reform the energy sector of the Mexican economy included in the related national development plan approved by the country’s government and projects contemplating the participation of Russian companies in the implementation of the Republic of Guinea’s national socio-economic development plans 2016–2020 and 2020–2025. Consultations were concurrently held with entities interested in expanding Russian participation in promising commercial projects featuring a high rate of return in the Middle East and North Africa.

Within SPIEF events, LEGINT Bureau’s team was actively involved in the Russia-Africa panel focusing on preparations for the Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi scheduled for October 2019. These efforts will be continued during the “Russia-Africa” Economic Conference within the Annual Meeting of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) that will take place on June 20–21, 2019 in Moscow.
